...rs think that only certain people should own guns. I personally think that it is ok to own a gun but their should be certain regulations to having one. Having a background check made before being allowed to purchase a gun. Which I think would cut down on gun violence crime. According to statistics there is 1 police officer for every 23,000 people in this country. Now how can that 1 policeman be there to protect me. The constitution does not guarantee us protection from murder or crime. It does provide us with a means to protect ourselves with the right to bear arms. We must stop trying to take hand guns away from law abiding citizens and concentrate on taking them away from the criminals. Hand guns are here to stay and no legislation can rid the world of them, but things can be done to stop criminal from purchasing guns. I also think that there is a big deal in the sale of semi-automatic and automatic guns. If you want to purchase semi-automatic then you should pass certain regulations and have a permit if you don’t then you cant own one. Gun manufacturers should be required to provide a safety lock with every handgun they sell I think that it is very important to have standard safety locks on guns and not have it be an optional thing when buying a gun. Guns with safety locks have saved many children from killing themselves or others around them. In 1995, there were 1,225 unintentional shooting fatalities.
