How September 11th Affect Me.
...here were dead silent and staring up at the television. It took me a second to figure out what had happened, all I could see was a burning building which I knew right away was one of the Twin Towers in New York City but I had no idea what happened to it. My initial thought was that someone had set off another bomb there like they had back in 1993. Just then CNN put up the headline on the bottom of the screen that a plane had in fact flown in to the building. Just as we all took that in the second plane hit. Right before our very eyes we could see a plane fly straight in to the second tower. There was a large explosion and many of the students in the classroom gasped in awe but for the most part everyone was shocked. None of us had ever seen anything like this in our lifetime, especially not in our own backyard. The reporters on CNN were questioning who could have done this and what the reasoning was behind these amazing events. I had my own thoughts as to who it could have been. I had been watching the news and knew of Osama Bin Laden in the past and his name was the first to enter my head. Of course I had no idea at the time if I was right or not. After sitting in utter amazement at what we were watching the bell soon rang and we were forced to leave and go to our next class. Walking through the halls I bumped in to many of my friends and others whom to my surprise had no clue as to what had just occurred. I tried to describe to them what I was just watching but I couldn’t in such a short period of time and still in almost a catatonic state. Once I reached my next class I sat down and talked about it with one of my best friends who had seen the events in a different room. The teacher walked in and we then filled her in as to what had occurred as well as the rest of the class who did not know yet of the events. This teacher kind of shrugged it off as not a big deal because she had not witnessed it herself and probably thought we were over exaggerating the situation. About 15 minutes into this period the principal came on the loud speaker and told the entire school about what had just happened. He was in tears, you could hear it in his voice. For the rest of the day none of us, myself included, could concentrate on the subjects at hand. All I could think about was the terrifying images that I had just witnessed right before my eyes. When I heard that the buildings had eventually collapsed, I just couldn’t believe it. How could buildings that large and secure be brought down to the ground? More importantly, how could someone be responsible for that? I finally got home and I think I sat in front of the television for the next 5 hours at least. Watching what had happened earlier that morning and seeing the buildings collapse right before my very eyes was something that I couldn’t even fathom. I stared in disbelief as the smoke began to settle and the debris that was left behind. This happens in other countries but not here in the U.S. How could they possibly get on board planes and be allowed to accomplish such extreme goals. Not to mention they were also able to crash in to the Pentagon, which I had always thoug...
