functions of management

... We strive to deliver high quality, cost-effective healthcare in the communities we serve. What can my department do to contribute to these goals? Provide friendly, helpful staff, improve up-front cash collections, reduce costs and A/R days, and reduce employee turnover. What changes need to be made within ER registration? Retrain employees on up-front cash collections and restructure payment plans, improve the discharge procedure by having a discharge desk and specific staff devoted to discharging patients, give incentives to employees for achieving goals, and let the employees help in decision making processes. Organizing Organizing is defined as “assembling and coordinating the human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve goals.” (Bateman & Snell, 2004, p.15) Organizing includes attracting employees to the company, designating job responsibilities, and getting the necessary resources for each person to do his or her job. One thing that I have learned from leading a ministry is that people will feel more a part of something if they have made a contribution in it. Then they can take ownership. So, let everyone contribute to the improvement process. Incentives for the employees will also help to motivate them. Maybe the company could offer a bonus for reaching certain goals. Functions 5 A Watson Wyatt Worldwide WorkUSA Survey (2002) found: While involving employees in decisions that affect them is critical to open communication, only 19 percent of WorkUSA participants said their companies do this well, down eight points since 2000. The percentage of employees who said senior management motivates employees to perform well also dropped eight points to 32 percent. It i...
