...ife from the beginning of you life. But the Puritans were also hypocritical; in fact they believed that in living a moral life, you would be granted the best afterlife. On the way to America the voyage was very dangerous, many fierce storms got in their way, but it was the act of God that got them to America safely: “Being thus arrived in a good harbor, and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of heaven who had brought them over the vast and furious ocean, and delivered them from all perils and miseries thereof, again to set their feet on the firm and stable earth, their proper element…”(pg.26) The community met for prayers regularly to share their strong belief in God. In the Puritan community people depended on each other to live a happy moral life. From the beginning the Puritans worked together. Their voyage to America would have not been successful if they didn’t have each other to depend on. Depending on each other in such tight quarters can have ups and downs. When one person in the community got sick, the sickness spread quickly. Many writers were discovered throughout the Puritan culture. In 1630 William Bradford wrote about his founding, Of Plymouth Plantation, the Puritan’s safe arrival to America. In his writings he describes the hardships of coming to America and the role that God played throughout the journey.
