...sacrifice compared to what others are making. But it just doesn’t’ seem like this is the way America should be, not when it has fought so many wars to be different, why should this war change that? What I seen in houses today is so much different then what we have been striving for in the past. In the past, we have worked hard in order to provide not only the essentials for our families but also excess, so that we could have comfortable lives. Now, all nonessentials are being eliminated in our homes and it seems that simplicity is the new ay to go, and sometimes practicality is even ignored. The country is also concerned with the space that our buildings are beginning to take up, and I am not beginning to see them rise higher and higher into the sky and loom over us day after day (American Cultural History, The Twentieth Century, Susan Goodwin). With the war going on, there isn’t really a lot of free time anymore, however, I did manage a trip to the museum the last Thursday, and I found out something new about myself; a have a fascination with art.
