la llorona
...a). Then after 2 sometime everything turned out as Maria planned. Before long, she and the ranchero became engaged and soon they were married. At first, things were fine. They had two children and they seemed to be a happy family together. But after a few years, the ranchero went back to the wild life of the prairies. He would leave town and be gone for months at a time. And when he returned home, it was only to visit his children. The ranchero was not interested anymore on Maria, he even considered marrying other girl from his own wealthy class. Maria was very disappointment and she began feeling anger toward the ranchero and after a while she began feeling anger toward her own children, because he paid attention to them, but just ignored her. Then someday later, it was an evening, Maria was strolling with her two children on the shady pathway near the river, the ranchero came by in a carriage. An elegant lady sat on the seat beside him. He stopped and spoke to his children, but he didn't even look at Maria. He whipped the horses on up the street and left without saying a single word to Maria. When she saw what just had happened, a terrible rage filled Maria, and it all turned against her children. After some seconds, the story told by people says that she threw her children into the river! But as they disappeared down the stream, she realized what she had done! She ran down the bank of the river, reaching out her arms to them. But they were already gone. She became crazy and wild. The next morning a traveler brought word to the villagers that a beautiful woman lay dead on the bank of the river. That is where they found Maria, and they laid her to rest where she had fallen. Something weird happened that night, it was the first night that Maria was in the grave. the villagers heard the sound of crying down by the river. It was not the wind, it was La Llorona crying. "Where are my children?" And they saw a woman walking up and down the bank of the river, dressed in a long white robe, the way they had dressed Maria for burial. Everyone In town became terrified, people wouldn’t go out at night anymore. And after this Maria, the beautiful lady, would go out day and night looking for her children. She was no longer called Maria, her new name was La llorona or the Weeping lady. There are some encounters with la llorona, for example the story of Paul Cantu. His story is that he worked in an irrigation pumps next to the Rio Grande river. It all happened one evening when he started to go into work at 6 p.m. The irrigation pumps have to be monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Paul was working the night shift with his dog snowball, then it was time to go round the pumps. It all happened around 2:30 in the morning. Out of nowhere Paul heard a crying, at first he thought it was the cats crying but then he heard the same crying again, but this time it was coming from the bend of the river. Instantly Paul knew it wasn’t no animal, he knew it was her “La Llorona”. Then he raced to the bank of the river and he saw on the other side ...
