Both of these two religions are equally logical, share many of the same elements, and also differ from each other. Judaism is the religion and culture of the Jewish people and one of the most popular religions in the world. It is mostly practiced in the Western world and in the United States of America. Judaism is one of the first religions to believe in only one god and one of the oldest still being practiced today. The history of Judaism contributes to the historical basis of other religions such as Christianity and Islam, sometimes know as the “Abrahamic religions” (Judaism). The trace of the Jewish history goes back 4,000 years ago. During this time Jews have gone through slavery, many types of self-government, conquest, occupation, and ejection. They have also been in contact with and was influenced by ancient Egyptians, Babylonians and Persians, as well as modern changes (Judaism: The Torah). The Jews strongly believe that HaShem (God) created and cares for mankind. This religion is not mainly concerned on afterlife like many other religions, but it is important to obey the Torah, their bible. According to the beliefs of Jews, Abraham was the first Jew. He was said to be the first to reject the worship of many gods, so HeShem rewarded him with children. His first child was named Isaac. With this child on his side he was removed from his city then inherited the land of Israel. When the patriarch Jacob was sent to Egypt by HaShem, him and his children became slaves. HaShem then sent Moses to redeem them. After this incident HaShem sent the group to Mount Sinai and gave them the Torah, he then brought the future Israelites to the land of Israel (Judaism: The Torah). The Torah is HaShem’s teaching to the Israelites on how to live. It contains stories that were true and taught to them about the history and the relationship with HaShem. This teaching was made up by two parts: the Torah Shebiksav “the Written Torah” and the Torah Sheb’al Peh “the Oral Torah”.
