The following laws, educational initiatives, policies, guidelines and regulations exist to both inform and guide all school staff, (including teachers, guidance staff, principals, superintendents, building maintenance workers, food service workers) regarding equity. Title IX (Federal) "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Title IX is part of the Education Amendments to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and includes specific conditions for public schools in the areas of: admissions (to programs and schools), guidance, extra-curricula activities, school and monetary awards, employment, facilities, and self-evaluation.
