Internal resistance of a torch battery 1. Task The inner resistance of a 9-volt block battery is to be determined experimentally. 2. Experiment 2.1 Materials · A 9-volt block battery · A voltmeter · An ammeter · A number of different resistors 2.2 Execution The experiment was set up as shown in the diagram below. U0 is the core voltage of the battery. Ri represents the inner resistance of the battery. T1 and T2 are the two terminals on the battery. The voltage Ut between them is the external voltage of the battery. Re represents the resistor decade connected to the outside of the battery. I is the ammeter, which is built in linearly. 3. Results For the series values from 0.5 W to 50 W were used for Re. Resistors were used in parallel and in line with each other. These are the results of the first series: U0[V] Ut[V] I[mA] Re[W] Ut/I[W] Rtot[W] Ri[W] 9.00 7.37 161 45.20 45.78 55.90 3.12 9.00 6.90 208 33.30 33.17 43.27 3.10 8.80 6.50 660 10.00 9.85 13.33 2.98 8.60 5.80 880 6.70 6.59 9.77 2.94 8.70 5.20 1050 5.00 4.95 8.29 2.89 8.60 4.60 1170 4.00 3.93 7.35 2.89 8.60 4.20 1280 3.30 3.28 6.72 2.84 8.70 3.40 1630 2.00 2.09 5.34 2.75 8.70 2.40 1990 1.00 1.21 4.37 2.67 8.67 1.70 2250 0.67 0.76 3.85 2.60 The column U0 represents the core voltage of the battery just before the measurement.
