Arrange Marriages
...her starts asking about the daughters of other families of the same class in society that she think will suite her son. The groom’s mother will choose the bride based upon the personality of the bride’s mother. Then, the parents of the bride and groom get together and settle down all the marriage concerns. For Example, Asian communities in Britain do get married through an arranged marriage same as in the UAE, but in Britain they can meet up without a family member. While in the UAE, a family member must assist the couples. From my perspective, I have two opinions: One, that I don’t agree with arranged marriages and another that I do. First of all, why do I agree with arranged marriages? In our society men and women don’t interact much as in the European societies; so in this case, how would a man choose a wife, if he doesn’t know any females? Yes, Arab women do work in places where men are part of the work force but they don’t really mix. Our environment is different than that of the west where men and women blend together in the work force or in social events or even as friends.
