...re always talking about that people have no right to deprive others’ lives. If they do so, they are just doing the same things like those who have committed serious felonies and are liable to the capital punishment. But I think that is totally different. I agree that life should be cherished and nobody can take others’ lives easily. But everybody should be responsible for his or her action. When someone has done unforgivable crimes or has brought about some damages which beyond one’s retrieval, he or she ought to pay for that, even to be deprived of his or her life. In other words, if you ruin something that is more valuable to the society than your life, the society has the right to take your life away as compensation. I think anyone who knows about what happened in Nazi concentration camps will agree with me. Some people disagree to the capital punishment because of their humanity and compassion. They believe that the only arguable plea for capital punishment is the right of society to retribution in this world with the prospect of life another, but since what used to seem to the great majority of civilized humanity the assurance of another life beyond the grave has even become more and more uncertain, a feeling for the value of human life should be deeper and more widespread.
