...was a 25-year-old man who has a useless left arm. White women accused both parties of rape. The Scottsboro Boys and Tom Robinson were tried by all white juries. The court was placed in Alabama. Also both parties were charged as guilty. Because they were black they had been guilty from the beginning. During the 1930’s down south, no jury would believe a black man over a white man/woman. Because of this neither the Scottsboro Boys nor Tom Robinson had a fair trial. The defendants of both parties were similar in ways. Atticus Finch was the lawyer for Tom Robinson while Sam Leibowitz is the lawyer for the Scottsboro Boys. Both were white lawyers who knew they had no chance in winning the trial. Death threats were made towards both for taking the cases of black men against a white woman/women. Atticus gave a tough examination of Mayella as so did Sam Leibowitz of Victoria Price. Both lawyers were just respectable men who thought of everyone as equals. The juries in the Scottsboro Case and the Tom Robinson Case are very similar. Both are prejudice white juries who convict the blacks of rape. The sentence from both juries is guilty. They ignored crucial evidence that was given to them because the defendants were black. The two juries took a few hours to discuss the outcome of the defendants, if the were guilty or not. Both juries were prejudice and they let that prejudice pick the guilty verdict. The victims of these rape charges are Mayella Ewell from To Kill A Mockingbird, Victoria Price and Ruby Bates from the Scottsboro Trials. These three women were poor and white.
