...tudy and committed suicide by gunshot. I think that the reason Neil chose suicide as his was out was because he was not able to think for himself. His father always made the decisions for Neil, and I think he didn’t think that he had any control on how he was going to live his life. So by killing himself, he was finally in control. It was finally a time where nothing else mattered, he wanted to show his family that they didn’t have control on everything he did. What I think is that Neil lacked skills in communication. He was too afraid of what his father might think. If my father really cared that much, I would continue to be in dramatics, even if it meant going behind his back. I wouldn’t care as long as he was getting the grades his father wanted of him, I don’t see why it was that big of a deal to let him waste his free time by acting out something he’s always been passionate towards. To me, suicide is NEVER the ONLY answer. There’s always something that could be helped. It’s just a matter of attempting to understand each other and what each views of the situation really stand for and if their relevant. In Neil’s case, I’m afraid he didn’t push hard enough to really get his point across to his father. Its not until after the suicide that his father really understands how Neil feels about this situation. Todd was like Neil in many ways. They were pretty close as friends, and came from a pretty similar background. Todd was more conservative towards Carpe Diem. I think Neil was just out there wanting Carpe Diem so bad and not concerned about what lengths he might have to go to get it.
