Tobacco
...co product is never forced upon a person. Whatever the reason, the choice is theirs they choose to gamble with their life. It may have been influenced by the tobacco companies advertisement's, which are so few, but in the end the final decision was their. Because they chose to smoke they put their life in danger and knew it, why should the companies be responsible for a person making a choice that endangered their life. “Should a person be paid to smoke?”(Catherine Wilson). Many people would most likely answer no the this question. All the arguments boil down to this question. When you come right down to it, organizations are either persuading the federal government to form one large law suit against the tobacco companies to help pay for medical costs, or the people are suing for tobacco companies for the same reasons. How can a company be responsible for the poor decision making of the people who use their products? Fraud should not be a part of this argument, but weather is right or not for the public to be able to sue the tobacco companies. There are other battles occurring to get tobacco companies to admit that in the 4000 chemicals in cigarette tobacco 43 are known carcinogens (cigarette ingredients).
