In the story Darry sets a limit to how long(late) Ponyboy can stay out and when he broke that rule he got his punishment which taught his an important lesson. When he ran away because Darry punished him be broke another rule, but if Ponyboy just listened and followed the rule that Darry layed down none of the chaotic things would have not happened in the story In the text Randy say’s “That is what he wanted for somebody to tell him no. To have somebody lay down the law, and set the limits” because if somebody told him know then he would have not attacked Ponyboy and then Johnny would have not killed him and he would still in the story. As well if somebody set a limit on Bob then they would have never encountered each other and the running away and staying in a church would have not happened.
