The Warriors
His last words were, “Don’t forget what I’ve told you all these years. ... The warrior rode closer and closer to me leading his thousands of fellow warriors to battle. ... I felt a tear run down my cheek as I remember his words, “I’ll leave here, but I’ll get all my warriors and come back! I have thousands of warriors and they’ll ride with me. ... It was painted and he looked just like I imagined all the warriors in his stories that he told me so long ago. ... In my mind I heard him say, “I’ll sing you an Eruska song, a song for the warriors,” and the song started. ... The only thing that was clear now was the song, the song for warriors. But even the warriors started to disappear and the plain seemed to turn translucent. ... The warriors, and horses were gone, but now I knew that there was hope.
