... back to the past and going over the life that they have lived so far. Harry is going over his life because he is dying plan and simple, and he knows this. Through out the story it keeps jumping back and forth from the present to Harry’s past. When the story is in the present Harry does not seem to care that he is dying “Please tell me what to do. There must be something I can do. You can take the leg off and that might stop it, though I doubt it. Or you can shoot me. You’re a good shot now. I taught you to shoot, didn’t I?” (129).When the main character in the “Imp of the Perverse” goes back and looks at his life he seems to question if there is a god or not. He mentions off a list of organs that the human body has and that every one is a vital organ for life itself but there is not organ for god. Both of these characters have hit a low point in their life and go back and recall the events that have led them to this time of reflection. Now as both of these characters go back over there lives what had brought them to this point are very different. For Harry it is his looming death that had brought him to past reflection. With the cut on his leg and the gangrene infection getting worse and worse he goes back into the past and relives his military history and how he met his wife.
