OOOPS!
...rn within a flip) few weeks before and I was debating whether or not to throw it in competition or not. I had been practicing them fairly delgently, and it wasnt quite where I wanted it to be. Failure in this competition was not an option. The only way I would lose is if I beat myself. My division happened to be the last to perform so as the day grew longer so did the anticipation. I watched peformance after performance, while going over my routine in my head. I felt there was no way I would screw it up, I knew it like the back of my hand. Did I mention that this was my first ever individual competition? An individual routine goes anywhere from one minute to ninety seconds, and it's composed of tumbling, dancing, and cheering. As the clock draws closer to my alloted mat time, someone comes and lets me know that I have mat time to practice my routine. Of course I took it, but not with as much excitement as I probably should have. I threw a couple standing fulls on the floor and they surprisingly werent terrible. In between practicing I managed to catch a glimpse of some other people in my division. If didnt have a reason to be nervous before well here it was. Almost every other person in my catogory had excellent routines with a high amount of difficulty. If I wanted to win, I would definately have to throw the standing full. As I prepared to practice my routine some more, I noticed a small pain in my knee, but nothing to cry over. I threw a couple of my tumbling passes, and immediately afterwards my knee felt as if someone drove a screw driver straight threw the middle and began to twist it. I informed my coach and she let me know right away, the only way I wasn't going out on that mat was if a tornado ripped through the colesium. Just as I began to panic, a lady calls my name, and tells me Im on deck, GREAT! The music of the performer before stops and the announcer screams my name and highschool. Its Showtime baby!
