The Catcher In the Rye Essay The main character name is Holden. The setting starts off at Holden’s school Pency Prep. There is a small problem because he is the manager of the fencing team and they went to New York and they were supposed to have a meet but Holden forgot the equipment on the subway everyone got mad at him but he thought it was kind of funny. They had just got back to see the big football game. Holden doesn’t really seem to school. The book starts off with the Holden getting kicked out of his school Pency Prep. Holden gets kicked out for failing four out of his five classes. He got a note from his history teacher telling him to stop by and see him because he knew Holden wasn’t coming back. His parents don’t know he got kicked yet because it is winter vacation. Holden knows that his parents won’t be happy because he’s been kicked out most of the schools he went to lately.
