To cite an example, the former is concerned with ‘What is electricity?’ whereas the latter, ‘How to utilise electricity?’ Hence, it is obvious that more attention would be devoted to the latter, to procure benefits and practicalities in this globalised market of gadgets and devices. In China, this is partly true but the problem is not prevalent hitherto. However, globalisation and entry into WTO means that the cost of living and pace of life are experiencing an upward trend. The hazards of excessive emphasis on applied science will lead to development without respect for Nature, triggering myriad ills such as pollution and devastation of habitats.
