A Research of Modern School Education

...n education seems to be perfect, because the educating course can produce all types of positive and constructive contributors to our society. Additionally every student has capability to exert all their advantages and power to serve others. Whereas, this circumstance of modern education does not exist in majority part of our world. It is still a poetic dream as well. Here comes the crux of the matter. The current educating contributors always treat the dissimilarities among students secondary to their similarities. This directly misleads the focus of modern education to a fault abyss. The unlimited rich and colorful modern education has been defined in strait as school education. Most students’ development and accomplishment will be limited under this circumstance. Here are some shortcomings of modern education: 1. Most citizens are only aware of the convenience and advantage of modern school education; however, few of them would pay enough attention to the disadvantage of education system. In this case, couples of generations are lack of creative, practical, and multiple abilities. 2. In my opinion, the purpose of public education is to present truth to the students, not only reading, writing, math, history, etc. but also the capability of dealing with social situations and of becoming a valuable and trustworthy member of society. Our society has broken up into specialized areas and needs all kinds of people to function well, such as teachers, cleaners, engineers, actors, dentists, vets, securities, etc. However, many students only want to get a purposed comfortable good-salary job: managers, administrators, actors, lawyers, and so on. All students want to earn a living after graduation, but they seldom think of their own hobbies. This entire situation is resulted from modern education trends. We often put highlight on sports stars, movie stars, millionaires, politicians, whereas there is nothing wrong with hard work as well as manual labor to survive. Why? Because our public education provides more chance for these so-called nice jobs, and it feels more confident to have these jobs, at least they need not get hands dirty or sweat. Perhaps this is the reason why our society lacks of skilled mechanics but possesses of too many white-collars. In brief, I think this unfair work ethic among the great majority should be changed. Our education system should provide equal resources to produce contributors. 3. Modern schooling has advantage at the transmission and explanation of virtual knowledge, as well as kinds of simple manual operating skills. On the other side, however, to teach students in accordance of their aptitude plus cultivating wholesome soul and manners of them is indeed a burdensome difficulty for school education. Simplex schooling cannot satisfy the individuation of different students. It only teaches the youth uniformity and obedience, this guide may be their lifelong ‘friend’. The oppressive education uses many means to restrict the natural tendencies of children. It has many shortcomings of a student to receive a long-term school education. As the slaves to the bell: a time to enter, a time to leave, a time to eat, and a time to rush to class, students have to follow the same routine everyday. They have to travel from home to school with little contact with their actual life and environment. As time passes, after accomplishing their study, they have been totally immersed themselves in the virtual world consists of knowledge, assignment, examinations, books, etc. They have little sense about the real world around them. Moreover, they dare not understand and join in it. This long-term education course ignores the golden period of shaping individual hobbies, manners and personalities. Consequently, piles of students cannot develop in harmony. More and more students get the same faces, the same personality, the same behavior and the same thinking. “Every child is not a normal person but a genius”, but our education robs them of the ability of being a genius. 4. Students, besides their parents and teachers are all pressured to keep them upgrading with no pauses. Teachers are afraid of being blamed by superiors and parents. Parents would feel shameful. Students are forced to rush through the education system so fast that they learn far less than they could. The grading system of modern education encourages dishonesty and plagiarism instead of hard work. We force students to work hard on papers instead of to present their knowledge. It is not enough to evaluate a student only with some numbers and letters. The current grading education is an ineffective way of showing a student’s progress, only to get him used to enjoying absurd rewards for hard tasks. 5. Students need to attend primary school, secondary school, college or university to get different diplomas and degrees. On this occasion, such a long-term study course requires large number of money, energy and time. It seems that the entire society is an endless circle: Good money needs good job. Good job needs degree. Degree needs university education. University education needs expensive tuition. Expensive tuition needs school loan. School loan needs money to pay back. Money to pay back needs good money… This strange circle suggests whether education investment really worth its return. How many percentages of the course are unnecessary? Furthermore, the expensive tuition causes unfairness in education. Many poor students cannot afford the high tuition, an...
