... Inertia. Inertia is the tendency of an object to resist changes in its velocity. Newton’s second law of motion states that the acceleration of an object is dependent upon two variables - the net force acting upon the object and the mass of the object. The net force is equal to the mass times the acceleration, Fnet = m *a, with units of Newtons (N). If an object is in equilibrium the acceleration will be equal to zero. If an angle is involved you must use a vector sum, and the force total in the x and y direction will be equal to zero. For example if you wanted to find the net force of a 5 kg object with and acceleration of 5.17 m/s², you would simply get, Fnet = 5 * 5.17 = 25.9 N. Here are few types of forces that we worked with.
