I am going to write an essay on the poem Porphyrias Lover by Robert Browning. This poem creates an atmosphere of sadness. In this poem the writer has made three main themes – insanity, murder and love. The writer Robert Browning has split the poem into three parts the thesis, anti-thesis and the synthesis. This poem is about a man who is sitting alone in a cottage feeling miserable waiting on Porphyria coming home and when she comes home she tells him she loves him but he doesn’t believe her then he realizes she does and to keep her loving him murders her by strangling her.
