Global Warming

...outgoing energy we have our atmosphere to make it possible. 1. Our atmosphere is made up of greenhouse gases like water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. 2. These greenhouse gases are naturally in our atmosphere, enough for the “greenhouse effect”, to happen. TRANSITION: Greenhouse gases are a good thing for us because it creates our atmosphere that helps trap heat energy for our planet, but having too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. It’s like drinking water, helps the body not be dehydrated, but drinking too much can be harmful also. II. MAIN POINT: What I’m trying to get at or get to is what the cause is for Global Warming, that our planet is keeping too much of the sun’s energy. a. SUBPOINT: This is caused by the increase of greenhouse gases released into our atmosphere. 1. Primarily from carbon dioxide, Methane and Nitrous oxide. 2. The increase of these three greenhouse gases come from human activates. b. SUBPOINT: Now that we have become so industrialized we have cars and power factories, which both live off fossil-fuel such gas and oil, which creates greenhouse gases. 1. They are responsible for 98% of the U.S. carbon dioxide emissions, 24% methane and 18% of nitrous oxide. 2. U.S. alone contribute 1/5 of the total greenhouse gases released into our atmosphere. 3. Why? Cars is used everyday by millions of people and power factories work non-stop every day of the week. c. SUBPOINT: Ever since the industrial revolution carbon dioxide increased by 30%, methane more than doubled and nitrous oxide doubled. 1. What it does is It makes our atmosphere more thick and capable in trapping heat inside. 2. That’s what leads to global temperature to increase. TRANSITION: Even though we have realized about global warming, we are not doing enough to reduce the amount of emissions, meaning fossil-fuel, into our atmosphere and so things change. III. MAINPOINT: Basically everything is affected by global warming, a sort of domino effect. a. SUBPOINT: Global warming speeds up the rate of climate change around the world. 1. It creates irregular weather 2. Affects our agriculture. b. SUBPOINT: Snow in the northern hemis...
