War on Terror
...aller the group the more secure the information is going to be. The groups can have “loyalty tests” where if a person fails they can be killed. If the terrorists think they have been caught they can give out false information to throw off the authorities. Osama Bin Laden, the leader of the terrorist group called Al Qaeda. He is the number one most wanted man in the world, the suspect for the September 11th attacks on the United States. He like most other terrorist leaders in the Middle East hold the United States responsible for every disaster in the Muslim world today. He poses a humongous threat to the United States and he will do anything in his power to take down the United States of America. He believes that the United States imperialism and government has directed the Muslim people from the path of “True Islam.” Terrorist can use many types of weapons from small weapons to massive ones. The small arms include military rifles, pistols, and automatic weapons. The medium weapons include machine guns, rocket launched grenades, mines, and small missiles. They get these weapons from the black market, can be stolen from military forces, from the internet, and could be left over from when the United States helped the groups during the cold war. Suicide Bombings are also a weapon used by terrorists and in countries like Israel they can occur almost everyday. There are many volunteer suicide bombers that believe that they will go to heaven if they carry out the attack in the name of Allah. They also believe it is their religious duty. The biggest threat terrorists can present is the threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Weapons of Mass destruction include biochemical warfare, biological weapons, nuclear weapons, and high explosives. They can use nerve gas to kill masses of people, they can release diseases such as smallpox, anthrax, or any other plagues. Any of these attacks would change the entire world as we know. And as powerful as these weapons are there are also threats and hoaxes. They can release information purposely to increase fear in a country or make people think there is an attack in the near future. As many weapons as the terrorists have there are many more targets of attacks. The terrorists can target many buildings, military intelligence centers, anti-terror buildings, and security buildings. They can attack people such as the president, leaders of groups, or religious leaders. They can also just commit random murders to increase fear. They take prisoners and torture them, take hostages, or kidnap groups of people. They can attacks places with large amounts of people such as stadiums, subways, airplanes, and shopping malls. They can decide to poison food or water supply that would scare many people. On September 11th, 2001 the United States endured the biggest terror attack on American soil ever. Four airplanes were hijacked, with all the jet fuel on the planes the planes were turned into four flying bombs. The first airplane hit the north building of the World Trade Center in New York. At first the attack was thought as an accident, then twenty minutes later another airplane crashed into the south building. Later in the day the towers collapsed killing thousands. Half an hour after the World Trade Center Attacks the third plane crashed into a side of the pentagon in Washington. The fourth plane crashed in a plain in Pennsylvania. No one in any of the hijacked airplanes survived. Almost 3,000 people died including about 350 firefighters. Images of bodies, exploding towers, and damage could be seen on the news for weeks. September 11th happened because the terrorists motives against the Americans. The media has widely speculated that Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the attacks on September 11th and has been blamed throughout the world. Supposedly Osama Bin Laden claims that the attacks made on the United States World TradeCenter were not caused by him. Osama Bin Laden is wanted world wide and is being searched for today. George W. Bush was at a school reading to kids in class when he heard the news. Bush rushed to get to a base in Louisiana before flying to the white house to give this speech on the night of the terror attacks: “Good evening. Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes or in their offices: secretaries, business men and women, military and federal workers, moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror. The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is strong. A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining. Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature, and we responded with the best of America, with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could. Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government's emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and the attack's prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington, D.C., to help with local rescue efforts. Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks. The functions of our government continue without interruption. Federal agencies in Washington which had to be evacuated today are reopening for essential personnel tonight and will be open for business tomorrow. Our financial institutions remain strong, and the American economy will be open for business as well. The se...
