...nt, Ariana just recently turned 7 months old. Her learning stage according to Piaget is at its first stage which goes from birth to 2 years. She is very much wrapped up in sensations and actions. She still doesn’t understand that if I put something behind my back that it does still exist. She also is beginning to generalize things. Such as all stuffed animals will rattle because she has more then one, so when a new stuffed animal is introduced the first thing she does it shake it So when I stood in front of the television block her view she began to fuss so I wondered if I muted it would it still be the same and it was. It seems that she need both the visual and audio stimulation to feed her mind. The other of the 2 children is Paige she has just recently started the 2nd stage in Piaget’s development. She just discovered that things still do exist. So when I used to just hide things from her she will search for it knowing that it still does exist and eventually she will find it. She is beginning to use language and can fully understand basic adult conversation. She knows the meaning of right and wrong and knows when she’s in trouble. When I did the same experiment with her she needed more of the visual stimuli rather then the audio stimulus. The audio was just an added effect to what was happening on the screen. The last child that I babysit for is also still in this stage but only in years. Colby is a very smart 4 year old. And I believe that he is in the stage of concrete thinking.
