Trench warfare

...ields once cultivated, but now scarred with pits, trenches, rusty barbed wires. The roads were rivers of clay. They were lined with dugout, cellars, and caves.” That statement describes how bad the living was in the trenches, and what the people had to deal with. The living conditions were so bad that 1 out of every 4 people would die from just the living conditions. I believe that it wasn’t fair for the people to have to live under those hard conditions. The men fighting were only allowed to leave once a month for a few hours. The land between the two fighting people was called “no mans land.” None of the sides owned it, and rarely people would ever walk across it. The chances of getting shot were too great. The trenches were miles long but only a few feet wide. Every ¼ of a mile there would be a latter that you could climb up to look over into the no mans land. Over a 5 month period of time over 1 million people died in trench fights. No one came back from the war the way they went in. Some never cam back, and those that did either lost limbs, were blinded, or were just not in the same mental state they where before. Some men would have relapse and think that they were back in trench war...
