Myth of Medea

...edea’s act of murder can be quickly described in a few words anger, revenge and heartache; but to truly understand the depth of this myth one must at first return to Medea’s beginnings and then proceed from there. In the beginning of Passolini’s movie the audience is let into the ritualistic society of Medea’s homeland, Colchis. Where sacrifice is done for a noble cause and life is cycle that repeats itself. As the marriage of Medea and Jason grew developed Medea gave up her heritage and began to mold herself into that of a suitable wife. Her motive was to please Jason. The life she left, the woman she was forced to hide, was worth concealing for the love and passion that was permeated between their two souls.
