Sometimes the representives rule in the ways the majority of the people want them to rule; but other times the representatives abuse their ruling power by doing things against the wishes and best interests of most of the people. This is true on the local, state, and national levels. On the local level, the People elect School Board officials. Sometimes these elected people run the schools well, managing funds wisely, and making good decisions for the students; sometimes they cater to special interests, waste funds, and coverup problems. On the state level, the People elect state officials, judges, and legislators. Sometimes these elected people keep their election promises and try to do what is best for the majority of their constituents; sometimes they cater to special interests, waste funds, and coverup problems. On the national level, the People elect national government leaders and legislators.
