According to Ray Bradbury in “Fahrenheit 451” when Montag asks his wife when they met first time she doesn’t remember Montag laughs and whispers; “Fuuny, how funny, not to remember where and when you met your husband’s wife.” (p.43) She asks him if he is happy? But he did not know the right answer. He knew that he is wearing a fake mask in his face. Clarisse s opens his mind to a brighter side of society. He is not happy about burning the books. However, his new feeling put him into deep emotion when he starts to read the books that he is suppose to burn. Now he is looking for a new society where truth and knowledge will bring true happiness. After burning the old woman’s books and her house, Montag feels love and hate for his job. The old woman burn herself and her home rather than allowing the firemen to do it which effect on him. By the old women’s action, Montag is thinking how someone could feel so strongly about books and the information contained in it, and makes him realize that perhaps the key to the happiness are the books. For example, old woman tells Montag “ You can’t ever have my books.” (p.38) He is wondering that how valuable were books for her that she end up burning her house with he books in it. Montag had an ironically feeling about burning the books and his job. He didn’t enjoy his job anymore. He returns home sick because of burning the old women’s books and her house, and he thinks about his ten years of service as a fireman who destroys books and burn them in 451 Fahrenheit degree. Unsure as to what to do next, Montag decides to get some knowledge from professor Faber who is retire English teacher. At fist Faber don’t trust Montag as a fireman because he may end up burning his books but his emotion won’t let hem to pass Montag. Faber advice him to read books, because the feeling of emptiness.
