Critical Thinking
...t do not require thought in our lives. Everything else requires us to think. This to me is the nature of thought. We become who we are because of the thoughts we produce in our minds and how we perceive the world around us. I believe that if we did not think at all, we would not exist as we understand existence to be. To think is to be human. If thinking makes us human, then how we think makes us who we are as an individual. I think that if everyone thought the same exact way, then there would be no differences in perceptions. It is because we all think a little differently that perceptual differences arise. I would say that there are as many different perceptual processes as there are individuals in the world that think. I am not sure that I completely understand my perceptual process, but I will have a go at trying to explain it as much as I understand it. How I perceive things today is the result of many years of processing input and forming a base perception from that information. Every one and everything I come in contact with has a potential influence on my perceptual process. I think this is a continual process through out our lives and we may perceive a lot differently in the future as we mature and have more information to base our perceptions on. How I perceive the world also has a lot o do with my core values and beliefs. The values that I have are not only a part of me because of the way I was brought up, but also because I have made a conscious decision to be the way I am. I have looked at the way people act and behave all of my life and have chosen to act like those I perceive to be good and honest people. I believe this a huge part of my perceptual process. When talking about perceptual process, I also think about the way I perceive things because of the environment I grew up in. There are probably a few things that block or interfere with true perceptions in all of us and hopefully some things that point us towards truth and help us decipher the false perceptions.
