...Our country also consists of two national branches of service which branch off of our international military. The National Guard is a group of soldiers that are called upon during exaggerated times of distress that the police do not have the manpower to contain such as outbreaks of disease or serious riots. The second is the Coast Guard. They are responsible for our oceans seas and waterways. During wartime or the threat of war, the men and women are dispatched all over the world to defend our country and to keep us safe from harm. Over 58,000 soldiers died in the Vietnam war trying to keep a country safe. Safety means a lot to the soldiers who train so hard to keep us safe and attempt to keep themselves safe with the training they received in boot camp. Most of the men and women who defend our country not only leave the country, but leave behind families who miss them and wait for their return. Personal safety begins in the home. Children depend a great deal on their parents to feed , clothe, house, and to keep them safe from harm that the world can cause them. Safeties that a parent can provide for their child can range from swatting away a bee to pulling a drowning child from a pool or burning building, From the moment a child enters the world, mother and fathers gain an instinct or gut feeling that they need to protect their child and the right time to do it. Most parents will try to instill their children with their own set of safeties that will keep them safe when the parents are not around. For example, making sure their children can cross the street properly or how to fight off a bully at school. Parents even have to go so far as to be wary of the toys that they buy for their children. There are also laws designed to protect the safety of society in general. Safety for children’s toys, fitness equipment, and all other consumer products are handled by the U.S.C.P.S.C. or the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
