It is clearly stated on the webpage that Intel’s mission is to “Do a great job for our customers, employees, and stockholders by being the preeminent building block supplier to the worldwide digital economy” (Intel site). This statement is a declaration of what they plan to do, for whom, and by what means. Objectives are just as important, as they are the goals the company strives to accomplish. They are also clearly stated on the Intel webpage, “Extend silicon leadership and manufacturing capability; Deliver architectural innovation for platforms; Pursue worldwide opportunities” (Intel site). These driving forces are mentioned after the mission under General Company Information, and also on Intel’s job-interest page, The Workplace. In the 2004 Annual Performance Report (found on the website), Intel details the three strategic objectives it follows: Set the standard for operational excellence inside Intel and in the IT industry; Use information solutions to make Intel more competitive and more profitable; Make our organization a great place to work, contribute, and learn. In his book Strategy is Destiny, Burgelman says that companies as large and complex as Intel must strategize internally and externally.
