I used the ¡®random¡¯ function on my calculator to select the pupil closest to the number displayed on screen. For example, I was choosing year 10 boys and so when I pushed the ¡®RAN¡¯ key it said 0.234 so I picked the boy closest to the 23rd pupil. If the 23rd pupil was a girl or not in year 10 then I would have to have chosen the closest year 10 boy to the 23rd position. If there was a year 10 boy the same number of spaces both above and below then I would have chosen the one above. I only picked out the first 70 pupils to use however otherwise I would have wasted a lot of time looking for something as hard as the 77th girl in year 8.
