We believe, having studied your operations that the present production facilities have been designed primarily around batch production, yet it is also trying to cope with the assembly type production. Lloyd Searby's sales forecast looks very promising for the company, yet this will only be realised if the company can achieve faster delivery programs. A large part of the problem in meeting these faster delivery times appears to be the effect that rush orders have on the production process. Other work in progress is delayed in order to expedite these orders in a delivery time of four days. With an extra 1800-sq. feet of factory space available in the near future, we feel that now is the time make a strategic move to develop two separate production facilities. This extra production line should be designed & optimised specifically small volume & rush orders (typically four a day).
