That left over 227,000 tons of waste to be consumed by landfills. From an economic standpoint recycling our waste is less expensive than sending it to a landfill or incinerating it. For pennies or less we could all successfully come up with a recycling program that could easily become a part of our daily routine. Recycling does not need more space and each of the containers will be smaller because the items will be divided into like groups taking up less space. Once these containers are set up, recycling will take no more time than normal trash disposal. Most cities offer some sort of recycling pickup program. The city of Chillicothe offers such a program.
