...all him names, and tease him about his lips and ears every time they passed him in the halls. Almost as if they were being paid to tease him. I was always taught not to talk about others just because I got and they don’t. Just as fast as the Lord give, he can take it away. However, sometimes I felt as if brought things on himself. Even though I know his family wasn’t as blessed as others. He would wear the tightest jeans. The jeans use to be black at some point of time, but they are an ash gray now. With the tightest jacket he could find. The jacket had a 101 straps and snaps on it. Which he made sure to wear it everyday, with it button from his neck to his belt. Plus his shoes told his story for him. He wore a pair of black hy-top shoes all through high school. You would think they were Shaq hand me downs, because those shoes ran forever. On top of that, those faded jeans never got to meet his shoes. His pants stopped at least 3 in. above the shoe. Now we all know that he was the target because he was different from everyone was use to seeing around school. So being that they couldn’t understand why, they would just make fun of him. Cornbread was strong though. He was at school everyday. Same jacket and all, he didn’t give a damn. He was Cornbread for all he cared. He would never get loud or out of line. He wouldn’t even give the pleasure to look their way. Cornbread would catch it hard on the bus ride home. He couldn’t never seem to make it out fast enough to get a seat at the front, so he would be forced to sit at the back with the so called bad boys.
