In another occasion, his youngest wife went to his friend’s house to have her hair done and she didn’t return early enough to make food for her husband. Okonkwo was so infuriated that he even forgot it was the Week of Peace. When she arrived she received such a pounding that even the neighbors heard her cry. There are innumerable occasions where this type of injustice can be seen but in top of that women were not able of owning any land or title except for priestess.
