     “At the beginning of creation God made them male and female: for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and the two shall become as one. ... ” (NIV bible) When two people make a commitment to get married this bond is considered to the religious Catholic viewers as permanent. Getting a divorce in a Catholic Church isn’t very acceptable and they try to convince couples to make it work. If for some reason the couple does gets a divorce there are some steps that should be followed in order to have a valid remarriage. This paper will discuss some requirements of marriage, what an annulment is and what it includes, views on divorce in a Catholic church, and my opinion coming from a Catholic family where my parents got a divorce. ... This class includes instructions on the meaning of marriage through the Catholic traditions, communication, sexuality, handling finances, and other important areas of a married life. The second issue is being baptized, and if possible confirmation of the Catholic party. Next, if a Catholic is marrying a non-Catholic they must seek proper permission from the Catholic Church officials. Also, a couple must seek permission if they decide to have the ceremony somewhere else other than the Catholic parish church. ... Now both state and church have a different view on this. ... With these witnesses a couple must seek permission to get married without an official Catholic minister, usually the pastor delegates two witnesses to be present. ...
     A couple that decides to get a divorce through the Catholic Church must go through the annulment process in order to protect the sacrament of the marriage so that the Catholics can live a fully sacramental life. ... As for you, if you or one person out of the couple were Catholic you would hope they would go through the annulment process for you out love because if they don’t a marriage in a church is not possibly valid.
     The couple is not the only one that is involved in divorce if they have children. ...

Pope John Paul II even goes to the extent to tell the civil lawyers who are Roman Catholic they must refuse to take divorce cases, and instead try to help them make amends with one another. ... ”(Henneberger 1) A view from a Catholic divorce lawyer that practices in Rome commented on that with, “I would rather be excommunicated than stop guaranteeing people the right to put an end to extremely unhappy situations. ... Since Catholics are looked upon as the religion that takes divorce so seriously the Bible Belt stated, “I applaud the Catholics,” says Jordan.
