One Ticket for Romance, Please
...es, couples are choosing their home over their local theater. I have to say that I agree with these kids, and so do a majority of the people that I spoke to. Later, I addressed a young couple near the ticket counter. I asked them if they came to the movies very often and they said, “Yes, we do, it’s a good thing when you can just relax with the one you love and enjoy a good movie.” I then looked around to see how many people had come with the one they loved, and truthfully there were not many to be seen. There were quite a few clusters of teenage friends and an occasional outsider, but there were not many couples. Intrigued, I tried to figure out just what these couples did that was so different, so I spoke to a few near the concession counter. All of the couples that I spoke to appeared to have two things in common: they had been together for quite some time and they also seemed to be older. There were a few young couples, but the majority of the younger crowd was with friends. An older couple then arrived on their “date” to the movies. They were there to see Bewitched. This couple in particular has a “date night” every month in order to spark romance in their relationship. Before coming to the movies they went to Las Palmas, a local Mexican restaurant.
