True Love on The Good Earth

"I will not stay in this house if that one comes near me, and I was not told that I should have accursed idiots to endure and if I had known it I would not have come- filthy children of yours!"(211) Wang Lung also becomes enraged and replies, "Now I will not hear my children cursed, no and not by any one and not even my poor fool, and not by you who have no son in your womb for any man" (212). He is very enraged that Lotus dares to curse his beloved children showing no respect for Wang Lung's children. “Now I am going to the piece by the moat of the town and I shall not be back early.”(244) Wang Lung comes back secretively to find his son in the court with lotus and is filled with so much rage he lashed at his son until his blood streamed down. Wang Lung is so disgusted with his son, that he sends his son to the south to study and no longer cause any more trouble. The relationship between the son and Lotus shows how unfaithful Lotus is. She has no respect for her master even though he provides her with everything she wants and needs, no matter how expensive it may be. O-lan has always put others in front of her. “No, and my life is not worth so much. A good piece of land can be bought for so much” (256). O-lan continues to be loyal and good to Wang Lung, even though he treats her so rottenly. O-lan wants Wang Lung to keep the money and spend it on farmland. “There in that land of mine is buried the first good half of my life and more. It is as though half of me were buried there, and now it is a different life in my house”. (272) As Wang Lung walk home after that, he only regretted taking the two pearls which were the only thing she ask for. O-lan never argues with Wang-Lung, even when she knows that she does not deserve the treatment she receives. . He then wept a little, dried his eyes and simply went back to the land.
