These actions led to his dislikes for white people and women because she never beat the other foster boy whom she always referred to as white boy. He was abuse by the foster parent daughter who was ten years older than him When Antwone became a teenager he resisted his foster mother beating him. He was asked to leave the foster home and never to return. Antwone is in Eriksson’s sixth stage of psychosocial development. This stages consist of unique developmental task that confront his crisis. He was able to find a male friend about the same age who was from a good family, but was a thief. One day his friend asked Antwone to go to the grocery store with him to a nearby grocery store. When they both got into the store, his friend took out a gun and pointed it to the store manager asking him to give up all the money he had in the cash register. The manager took a gun and shot Antwone’s only friend. This made Antwone feel abandoned and added to his anger. Antwone joined the Navy to became a worthy person in life. But his built in anger made it hard for him to achieve his goal. Antwone refused to cooperate with the psychiatrist the first time he was brought in for the one hour session. He started talking when he brought in for the second time after he had a fight with the white crew mate for racial slurs. The psychiatrist was also an African American male. The psychiatrist told Antwone to release his anger on punching bags and some other therapeutic exercises. A female Navy recruit played a very important part in Antwone’s success in becoming a Navy Officer. She went on a date with Antwone and she kissed him. Antwone was very excited that he went to the psychiatrist’s home to tell him about his latest development, but this excitement did not last very long because he had another fight with an African American crew mate who called him a woman hater.
