I do believe they did a good job at trying to tie in the “gag” in the movie, with the scene of the grandson interrupting the grandfather about “Who is going to kill Humperdink?”. Okay, I will admit I did have to go back and read the beginning over because I started to wonder. Was this for real? Did he really chop up someone else’s book? Goldman is a creative write and I give him big kudos on that one. I feel the best part of the movie is that Goldman was able to write the screen play and include his cleaver lines. It just wouldn’t be “The Princess Bride” with out them. I thought about the many ways to compare the two and I think listing them will make it the clearest. • Movie - Missing a beautiful courting between Buttercup and Wesley …no cow scene…no Buttercup realizing her love for him • Movie - There is no Prince Humperdink telling Buttercup she will marry him after he sends someone out to find his perfect bride. • Movie - Eel infested waters…Book- Shark infested water • Movie - No talk about stealing the fastest ship • Movie - Fezzik did not sink the ship • Movie - The rope is tied to a rock…Book – an oak tree • Movie - Wesley didn’t tie up Inigo • Movie – Prince Humperdink has a Pit of Despair …Book – Zoo of Death (This was very sad not to have in th...
