...n level then when those children took their "exiting" test they would not have to worry about having problems finding a job. The kids would be well educated and have some knowledge of a skill. The problem is the teachers feel like it is a waste trying to prepare these kids for an exiting test, when they could be teaching them some other subject. Most teachers do not like to go by a strict guideline, they like to have their own "freedom" and teach their class the way they want to teach it. What they don't see is that some children learn faster than the others and those that are "slow" learners are basically left behind and have to try and catch up. But if each school would have each grade level set to a certain standard, not a Creasy 2 high standard, then children would be a whole lot more succesful in high school, the drop out rates would be lower, and the kids self esteem would even be higher. Standardized tests effect a teacher's curriculum. For each grade level those teachers have to teach the same thing to those students. If their are three second grade teachers, each one of those second grade teachers have to teach the same exact materials to their students. If a teacher doesn't go by that curriculum then his/her students may not be as well prepared for their "exiting" test as the other classrooms are. These standardized tests are expecting certain things to be taught in that grade level, and if some students do not do well on that test then it makes the teacher look like she was not doing her job well. No matter how hard a teacher tries to teach his/her materials to their students, there are going to still be some children that still do not understand it and will not do good on that test. Because certain expectation levels are wanting to be met on these tests, all of the teachers are having to create a curriculum that fits the test.
