Change a car tire, descriptive
... run like a normal car should run. Next it is wise to get the car to a safe area. Doing this will allow you to work safely. However if your car is not on the street and you were not driving, you do not need to worry about these safety precautions, or have to dealing with on coming traffic. If you are driving it would be safe for you and everyone else who is driving to get as far off of the road as you can. So you will not cause a car accident while trying to get back on the road. Be sure that the car is out of the way of on coming traffic, as much as possible. It is a good idea to make sure the car is somewhere you can work safely and you do not have to worry about the other cars. The next step, after making sure your car is out of the way and your hazard lights are on, you will need to take; the tire iron, or four way; if available you might need a lubricant like 'WD40', to loosen the lug nuts; the jack, and also the new tire. You will want to set the jack up on the same side of the tire you want to change. Putting the jack on the same side will give you the leverage off of the ground you will need to remove the damaged tire. If the tire you need to change the front tire you will set the jack up behind that tire. However if it is the rear tire, you will want to set the jack up in front of that tire. Also doing this will lift the tire right up where you need to work. After you have set the jack up, you need to jack up the car. Make sure the jack is set up to lift the car up on its frame anywhere else on the car could damage its running capabilities. The safest place is to put the jack to set it up so it lifts the car by its frame because the frame is holding all of the wait of the car. When you are done setting the jack by the frame of the car, there will be instructions on how to use the jack for the car. You will then have to jack up the car just enough to get it off of the ground. Next you will take your tire iron, or four way. If you are using a four way, before you start to loosen the lug nuts, you will first need to figure out what size your lug nuts are. Figuring out what size the lug nuts are will allow you to remove the lug nuts correctly so you will not strip them. Loosen the lug nuts evenly around the tire. Once all of the lug nuts, are loose, you will have to lift the car up more to have enough room to remove the lug nuts. Remember to remove them one at a time. Be sure to put the lug nuts together so you do not loose any of them. You may need to put your car into neutral to move the tire around to make it easier to remove the lug nuts. When the lug nuts are off of the tire, you will remove the tire from the car. The tire will be heavy so you may need to pull the bottom part of the tire out a little bit first. Then you should be able to slide the rest off...
