It takes not only degrees, diplomas, PhD’s that make a man, values does count, ethics does count, sense of order does count, and so does aesthetic values. It is not only the broadening of intellectual horizon. What part strikes you most? The part that states if going to college meant sharpening your sense of wonder, developing a sense of order, strengthening your sense of values, ethics and aesthetic values and having dedication, did strike me a lot. I mean, it does make real sense. Some of the things that make you a better person do not depend on the degree got in college, but through life experiences. If you got a title, well it does not exactly mean that you are already a better person than the other who did not get any, or those who only finished grade school. It is because they can still be a better person than you are in some other way. What do you think is the message of the author? I think the message of the author is that, today people just want to get diplomas and degrees for the sake of the title and not because of anything else. I mean I’m not saying that everybody is like that, but most young people of today are, most especially those who are not really studying very well.
