...ages can still cause problems in the society. Families may also come to hate another race, as one of their children may have married someone of another race. For example, when my parents wanted to get married, my grandfather would not consent to their marriage. And in the end he did not turn up for their wedding. In the past, whenever my parents went to visit my grandparents, my grand father would just leave the house and wait till they were gone. But time has passed and I guess my grandfather has learnt to accept it, and now, both my father and my grandfather are good friends. Inter-racial marriages are good in a way that it enables races to get to know more about the culture and religion of other races. And for some who have not been exposed to any other type of race except of its own, it’s a good opportunity for them to start to learn more about others. For example, I am a product of an inter-racial marriage, and I am able to experience first hand the best of both worlds. My families have learnt to accept and appreciate one another despite of our differences. I have many relatives and friends who are also of both races because of my rich heritage. I get to not only know people of one race but of two and more, and can learn more of how people act and the customs they practice to be more aware of the vast cultures around me.
