...ddle east Il Sung was a North Korean dictator with true allegiance to the Soviet Union. In 1950 Il Sung waged an anti-communism war against the Peoples Republic of Korea with the intent to liberate all anti-communist ways and unify the two under one communist party. After capturing Seoul and occupying most of the south, Il Sungs’ forces were driven back under a UN backed U.S. led attack. July 27, 1953, the 38th parallel was officially recognized as the “Armistice Line” and Il Sung was able to re-establish rule to the north. With much damage in North Korea due to the recent conflict, the Soviet Union stepped up and provided funding for the re-building process of the local economy.
