...give positive advice and act as role model, so that societies youth receive positive ideas from people that they call their hero’s. Another thing that creates a negative view of Jello Biafra, is his use of humour considering extremely touchy subjects. His songs were always provocative and sarcastic bringing shock and disgust to parents all over America and anything that upsets a parent normally encourages general youth to gravitate towards. Songs such as “Holiday in Cambodia” which mocks the totalitarian regime which took the lives of millions of people under dictator Pol Pot and songs such as MTV get off the air, Stars And Stripes Of Corruption, Religious Vomit, kill the poor and Jesus was a terrorist are songs that were produced to provoke a response from the general public. His disturbing humour come through in the article when Biafra hears that a 13 year old has committed suicide and the parents blame the Dead Kennedys music for the death of their child. When accused of this Biafra replies sarcastically “I finally did it! Finally got one!" he yells triumphantly to a cheering audience. "Eat your heart out, Bad Religion!". His use of humour in reference with a 13 year old comiting suicide creates a extremely negative view of Biafra and gives the idea that he does not value life, he is anti-religious and has no respect for the mourning parents therefore people may label him as a monster or anti-Christ. Which is a minority group in America, therefore the greens and their followers generally do not fit in with society because of their anti- mainstream beliefs. In the article it states that Biafra “envies” Marlyn Manson because of his actions against politicians. The fact that he supports Malyn Manson automatically make him an out cast in society because of the bad reputation Marlyn Manson has as a so called anti –Christ, it also gives modern day teenagers an understanding of how Biafra was perceived in a similar way to Manson in his own time as the lead singer of the Dead Kennedys. The result of Biafra associating himself with the green party and Manson automatically gives him a harsh label because of the negative views associated with both groups.
