...n to excel and advance. Sure I have a high school diploma and lots of work experience and life experiences but nothing hard. Nothing concrete like a diploma or certificate I could take to somewhere I would really be happy working for and show them look this is me this is what I know and this is examples of my work. Sure I have good references but if someone going for the same position comes in the same age but has a degree and or portfolio my chances are nill. So I have floated the last three years with really nothing under me. I have graphic design work and skills from courses in a vocational center in high school but that’s not like a college degree. Not to mention as I tool around with the programs now a couple years later I’m lost. I’m not fully lost but enough to realize I need more schooling in the area if that’s what I wanted to do, again backing up the importance of further educating oneself. Also I look at myself and realize I enjoy doing many things, all types of work. I have always been good at advertising, marketing and selling and getting peoples interest or interested in whatever I am doing, but this alone will not get me in the business world which I totally see myself in. I need to know more. I need to know more of what worked for others, statistics, and prior instances where something failed or skyrocketed. I alone without the resources of a school, being in the field, having a great team of teachers, and hands on experiences can learn the skills but still will be limited. This lack of direction and involvement would definitely limit my chances of success. That’s why I expect that with a college education from a specialty school I will learn all the skills that I will need to become a successful and productive member of the fashion industry.
